Technical Director, Process Engineering - Wastewater

Job Summary
Lead the delivery of complex water and wastewater treatment projects across ANZ, developing innovative process engineering solutions focused on advanced technologies and sustainable outcomes. Provide technical leadership by solving complex challenges, guiding best-practice design approaches, and building strong client relationships to deliver tailored, high-value solutions. Support business growth by contributing to proposals, winning work, and expanding the project portfolio while mentoring junior engineers to build team capability. This role requires an engineering degree, CPEng/RPEQ/RPEV, and 12+ years of senior wastewater treatment experience. Based in Melbourne with flexible hybrid work arrangements, the position offers up to 6 weeks additional annual leave and volunteer representation leave. Required Qualifications
- Engineering degree
- CPEng and/or RPEQ/RPEV
- 12 years + experience in wastewater treatment at a senior/technical leadership level
- Deep knowledge of treatment processes, plant design, and ANZ regulations
- Experience across the full asset lifecycle
- Well-connected in the Australian water industry
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process engineering skills
- Excellent communicator with a client-focused, people-first approach
- Able to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
- Attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment
