Job Summary
Technical Director responsible for executing all technical aspects of performances, events, and rentals in the JCC theater and event spaces. Oversees advanced technical needs including sound, lighting, and video projection; runs projection booth operations and QLab; maintains equipment inventory; develops production schedules and timelines; ensures safety and compliance with regulations. Serves as primary in-house technician and liaison between artists, renters, staff, vendors, and contracted technical personnel. Collaborates with Arts & Culture staff, educators, development professionals, and community leaders; manages theater operations, HVAC calendar, and facility rentals; prepares production estimates and rental-related costs; supports revenue generation through rentals. Manages annual technical budgets and oversees labor costs; ensures OSHA and venue safety standards; supports community events, donor events, and summer drama camp while upholding organizational mission. Requires ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills; experience in nonprofit performing arts environments preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater, Arts Administration, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in technical theater production
- Skilled in theatrical lighting, sound, video, staging, and production systems
- Strong organizational, project management, and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by performance and event schedules
