Job Summary

Coordinate events in Wait Chapel, Brendle Hall, and the Welcome Center by overseeing technical execution of lighting, sound, audiovisual elements, and stage management. Manage event personnel, board operations, and stagehands while collaborating with the Associate Director for Wait and Brendle on larger productions or operating independently for smaller ones. Provide technical support for campus venues, move musical instruments and stands, and handle tasks such as managing time sheets, preparing reports, and overseeing maintenance with minimal supervision. This role requires five years of professional experience in theatrical programming or technical direction, with expertise in live sound, lighting, or AV recording.

Required Qualifications

  • Five-years professional experience
  • Bachelor's degree in theatrical programming with one year's experience
  • An easy-going personality
  • Punctuality
  • Knowledge of theatre and stage direction
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience as a sound, lighting, or video department head on tour, or in an AV rental company, or an assistant technical director or technical director in a theatre
  • Ability to name all types of cables, microphones, understand wireless microphones and RF
  • Several years' experience mixing live sound with an understanding of EQ, compression, and things like the proximity effect, phasing, delay
  • Knowledge of recording equipment and playback software such as Qlab and be familiar with Dante
  • Ability to operate moving lights with ETC consoles to an advanced level
  • Ability to use focus sheets and run a lighting restore
  • Understanding of Conventional and LED lighting, Gels, Gobos, DMX and focusing instruments
  • Ability to safely meter and connect cam lock power
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use power tools, sound and lighting equipment
  • Ability to lift 25 -50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, ladder, scaffold
  • Ability to walk and reach overhead
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
