Job Summary
Technical Delivery Lead – Backend responsible for guiding architecture and delivery of scalable, high-performance backend systems for real-time sports experiences. Combines hands-on backend engineering with leadership, reviews architectural decisions, and mentors engineers while collaborating with frontend, data, product, and other stakeholders. Proficient in .NET/C#, RabbitMQ/Azure PubSub, Azure and AWS, and experienced with distributed systems, performance optimization, API design, testing (TDD), and driving engineering standards. Requires 5–10 years of backend experience, a software engineering degree (BSc/MSc), and willingness to work on-site at Alkmaar. Passion for real-time sports data, 3D graphics, and AI storytelling, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of software engineering with strong backend focus
- BSc or MSc in Software Engineering (or similar)
- Proven experience as Technical Lead / Team Lead in backend engineering teams
- Ownership of delivery, architecture decisions, and team guidance
- Extensive experience with .NET / C# in production environments
- Strong knowledge of system architecture, IoC, and concurrency
- Experience with messaging and streaming systems (e.g. RabbitMQ, Azure PubSub)
- Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS
- Strong experience with automated testing and TDD
- Experience mentoring engineers and supporting their development
- Strong stakeholder communication and delivery ownership skills
- Willingness to work on-site in the Alkmaar office
