Technical Building Manager

Job Summary
Manage day-to-day operation and maintenance of all building engineering services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and Building Management Systems. Develop and monitor Planned Preventive Maintenance programmes to maximise asset reliability while coordinating reactive maintenance activities and managing external contractors to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, statutory inspections, and industry regulations through regular inspections, audits, and condition assessments of plant rooms and infrastructure. Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, maintain accurate records and asset registers, and investigate equipment failures to implement corrective actions. Support capital improvement projects and lifecycle replacement programmes while collaborating with stakeholders to minimise operational disruption.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in technical building or facilities management within commercial or mixed-use properties
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Good understanding of statutory compliance, health and safety legislation and building regulations
- Experience managing maintenance contractors and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and budget management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficient in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications
- Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH)
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IWFM, CIBSE, IET)
