Job Summary
Migration Specialist (AWS) leading Platform Engineering delivery for cloud migrations from on-premises to AWS, leveraging extensive experience with VMware lift-and-shift approaches, AWS migration services, and IaC to enable scalable cloud-ready architectures for Fortune 1000 clients. Responsibilities include designing and executing migration strategies across compute, storage, and networking, implementing secure and scalable cloud environments, automating repeatable migration tasks, and collaborating across DevOps, security, and platform teams to ensure successful cloud transitions and ongoing optimization.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in cloud migration and AWS
- Experience with on-prem VMware/VM-based lift-and-shift migrations to AWS EC2
- Proficiency with AWS migration tools (AWS Migration Hub, MGN, SMS, DMS, CloudEndure)
- Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Auto Scaling, Landing Zone, Control Tower)
- Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (Git, Jenkins)
- Ability to script in Python and Bash
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker (ECS/EKS)
- Experience with monitoring and logging (CloudWatch)
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, MongoDB)
- Familiarity with on-prem VMware ecosystem (vSphere, vCenter, ESX)
- Understanding of security best practices in AWS (IAM roles/policies)
- Experience with networking (VPN, AWS Direct Connect)
- Familiarity with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
- Experience in Agile/DevOps environments
- Relocation flexibility to UK when applicable
