Job Summary
Technical Accounting Manager responsible for ensuring compliance with complex accounting standards and regulatory requirements related to accounting and financial reporting. Responsibilities include leading accounting research and recommendations on areas such as business combinations, derivatives, revenue recognition, and loan accounting; ensuring disclosures meet new accounting requirements; supporting corporate tax and tax accounting processes; assisting with SEC/regulatory reporting; participating in M&A activities and system conversions; reviewing reconciliations and journal entries; assisting with Model Risk management documentation and SOX documentation; liaising with internal/external audit; coordinating with cross-functional teams; and leading special projects with technical accounting guidance. Requires BA/BS in accounting or finance, 5+ years in financial reporting or technical accounting, active CPA, SEC filings experience, banking/financial industry experience, proficiency with financial systems, and strong leadership and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business required, preferably within accounting or finance discipline
- Active CPA license
- Experience with SEC filings
- Experience in the banking or financial industry
- Proficient with financial systems, system implementation, and process improvement
- A public accounting background and experience at large, well-reputed companies
- M&A due diligence and integration experience
- Knowledge of bank operations, regulatory requirements, and internal controls over financial reporting
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Advance proficiency in MS Office tools
- Building strong leadership skills, including the ability to envision, articulate and manage change and the ability and desire to work with persons of diverse perspectives
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, and with people of diverse backgrounds
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
