Job Summary
Technical Accessibility Specialist II delivers accessible experiences across university platforms by conducting WCAG audits, guiding product teams, and developing remediation plans. Responsibilities include performing accessibility tests with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, Dragon), creating evaluation documentation, training colleagues, developing accessibility guidelines for architects/designers/developers, and staying current with WCAG, ADA, Section 508, and related standards. The role involves collaboration with UX, designers, product managers, and stakeholders to influence product development, mentor new team members, and handle high-exposure accessibility projects. Requires broad knowledge of WCAG/Section 508/ADA, ability to read HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and travel up to 20%.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Assistive Technology, User Experience, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Information Design, or another related field
- 5 years of experience in the accessibility field
- Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.
