Job Summary
Technical Support Manager (UNIX/Network/Telecommunication) leads and supervises technical support teams focused on systems management, network management, and/or telecommunications management.Responsibilities include planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing the work of teams; evaluating, selecting, installing, and maintaining hardware and software related to the specialty; coordinating installation and maintenance of operating systems and related data/security/telecommunications management; implementing procedures to support change, problem resolution, performance, and capacity; providing technical support services to operations and applications staff; assisting with procurement specifications; and conducting training sessions for technical staff. Requires thorough knowledge of systems, network and/or telecommunications management, operating systems, diagnostic software, and equipment, plus ability to supervise teams, train staff, communicate effectively, and maintain working relationships. Education and experience: degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) and substantial prior experience in supervising technical support teams. Special requirements include fitness for duties as evidenced by a physician’s certificate and ability to work within a state government environment.
