Job Summary
Tech Lead on Payoneer’s Application Infrastructure team based in Gurugram will own the technical direction, architecture, and evolution of core platform components powering Payoneer’s global financial services. You’ll work on highly available, distributed systems serving customers across 190+ markets, partnering with engineering teams to deliver shared frameworks, libraries, and cloud-native services. Responsibilities include providing architectural direction for backend systems focusing on scalability, security, reliability, and cost; leading hands-on development; owning design decisions, data models, and high-performance access layers across SQL and NoSQL; defining APIs and contracts with Product, Architecture, Security, SRE, and DevOps; ensuring reliability with SLOs and incident response; championing security-first and compliance-aware engineering (PCI DSS, PII, multi-tenant isolation); shaping AI-assisted development standards and internal AI tooling; driving improvements in CI/CD, testing, and developer experience; and contributing to hiring and engineering process improvements. The role requires 10+ years of backend experience, strong C#/.NET skills, cloud experience (AWS or Azure), and a track record of building scalable distributed systems, with hands-on work integrating AI features and modern AI coding tools.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional backend software development experience
- Demonstrated experience leading platform-building efforts end-to-end
- Strong proficiency in C# and .NET
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS (preferred) or Azure
- Proven experience with both SQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL stores (MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, or Cosmos DB)
- Solid grounding in distributed systems patterns, microservices, asynchronous messaging, caching, resiliency, idempotency, and REST/event-driven API design
- Hands-on experience building AI-based products or features, integrating LLMs, AI APIs, or AI coding assistants into real software
- Demonstrated fluency with modern AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Copilot, or equivalents)
- Decisive leader and strong communicator, drives clarity, makes informed decisions, and produces crisp design docs, RFCs, and postmortems for both technical and non-technical audiences
