Job Summary
Senior Android Engineer to own major features in Speechify's Android app and help shape the Android team's future. You’ll own features from conception to release, collaborate with Product and Design to deliver high-quality user experiences, maintain reliability metrics for key features, review pull requests, tackle critical issues, and provide nightly builds for QA. Ideal candidate has 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong Kotlin expertise (Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow), Dagger 2, MVVM, Jetpack Navigation, and UI/UX sensibilities, plus a proactive, user-centered approach and excellent communication skills. The role is fully distributed with no office, and candidates contribute to an open, fast-paced environment focused on impactful, user-focused Android development.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Familiarity with Android components
- Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app
- Product design intuition and user empathy
- Drive to push Android UI/UX boundaries
- Understanding of tests and approach to testing
- Self-motivation to improve the app and codebase
- Rock solid experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit tests
