Job Summary
Senior Android Engineer to own major features in Speechify's Android app and help shape the future of the Android team. You will deliver high-quality features, maintain reliability metrics for key features, participate in cross-team discussions (Product, Design, Engineering), review pull requests and support teammates, handle critical issues, and own feature releases with nightly builds for QA. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of software engineering experience, deep familiarity with Android components, experience building or contributing to at least one Android app, strong product design intuition and user empathy, and proven expertise in Kotlin and Android ecosystem tools (Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit, Jetpack Compose, Room, and related technologies). The role emphasizes leadership through technical excellence, user-focused problem solving, strong communication, and a drive to push Android UI/UX forward. The position is fully remote within Speechify's distributed workspace (no office), with competitive compensation in the US market and potential stock/bonus per experience. Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Familiarity with Android components
- Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app

- Understanding of tests and how to approach writing tests
- Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec
- Rock solid experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit tests
- Excellent communication skills
