Job Summary
Senior Android Engineer to own major features in the Speechify Android app, shape the Android team’s direction, own, maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features, review pull requests, and lead feature releases. Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver high-quality features and great user experiences. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of software engineering, strong Kotlin expertise, experience with Android UI/UX, testing, and a track record of shipping Android apps. Bonus for open-source contributions and experience with iOS/Web/NodeJS. Technologies used include Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Jetpack Navigation, Dagger 2, Room, Jetpack Compose, JUnit, and related Android tooling. Netherlands-based salary range is 30,000-120,000 USD/year plus bonus and stock, with remote/distributed team setup.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Familiarity with Android components
- Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app
- Product design intuition and user empathy
- Drive to push the boundaries of Android UX
- Understanding of tests and how to approach writing tests
- Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec
- Rock solid experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit tests
