Job Summary
Perform shop service and field inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment including extinguishers, gas detection systems, and sprinkler systems. Conduct detailed visual inspections and functional tests to report deficiencies, then complete all associated documentation for invoicing. Perform pre-job, update, and post-job briefs while assisting with stocking, staging, and loading customer orders. Maintain work areas and assigned vehicles, operating electronic safety and communications systems. Travel to customer sites for short and long-term projects, including offshore exploration and production. Obtain TWIC card, pass safety testing, and hold Texas State Fire Licenses.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license from state of residence
- Valid proof of vehicle insurance
- Safe driving record
- Ability to be insurable for Total Safety vehicle insurance
- Willingness to travel to customer's site
- Availability for travel for short and long-term out-of-town and/or offshore projects
- Ability to obtain TWIC card
- Ability to pass any required safety testing to include classes such as Basic Plus, OSHA 10 hour, etc.
- Texas State Fire Licenses (FAL/FEL)
- Ability to pass NICET Level II testing within 12 months of hire date
- Ability to consistently demonstrate the ability to operate assigned equipment meeting or exceeding service and quality targets
- Ability to operate and maintain, reassemble, and test electronic safety equipment in accordance with manufacturers' specifications
- Ability to meet or exceed service and quality targets with demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems, regardless of complexity and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations
- Knowledge of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned responsibilities; i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc.
- Knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulations, Coast Guard and ABS regulations if offshore
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Proficiency in the care and use of all sites specific, facility and customer required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
- Training in Respiratory Protection
- Full certification to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested) where required by facility
- Ability to demonstrate ability to work in a team environment
- Willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions)
- Ability to author technical reports and correspondence
- High School diploma or GED
- At least two (2) years of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery or related industry
- Ability to stand
