Job Summary
Emergency Department Technician provides support to RN and physicians in the Emergency Department, assisting with tests, exams and procedures, and performing clerical duties to update and organize nursing-unit information. Responsibilities include preparing supplies, managing equipment and carts, rooming patients, obtaining vitals and EKGs, venipunctures, wound care under supervision, transporting patients, documenting in the EMR, and coordinating with other departments while promoting patient comfort and safety. Requires CNA or EMT-B certification (IL), BLS, and typically 2+ years CNA/EMT-B experience; performs unit clerk duties as needed and supports department goals.
Required Qualifications
- CNA or EMT-B Certification Required
- Current IL CNA or EMT-B Certification Required
- BLS Required
- De-escalation Training Required within 6 months of hire
- CNA/EMT-B minimum 2 years Preferred
- Office/Clerical setting minimum 2 years Preferred
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
