Job Summary
Operate machinery used to manufacture and process steel products while safely packing, strapping, and inspecting goods to ensure quality. Work with forklifts and overhead cranes within a collaborative team environment, maintaining a strong safety culture throughout physically active shifts. Perform manual handling, lifting, and operating around large machinery, often working at heights, depending on the department. This hands-on role requires standing for most of the shift and adapting to rotating 8 to 12-hour rosters, including day, afternoon, and night cycles on 24/5 or 24/7 schedules. No prior manufacturing experience is needed; comprehensive training and support are provided to help you succeed in producing BlueScope's steel for export and domestic customers.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to lift and handle steel products
- Must be comfortable working in a physically active environment
- Must be adaptable and open to working rotating shifts
- Must be able to work day, afternoon and night shifts
- Must be able to work weekends
- Must be able to work overtime
- Must be able to work public holidays
- Must be able to work at heights
- Must be able to work around large machinery
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to heat and noise
- Must be able to work on a 24/5 or 24/7 rotating roster
- Must be able to work for most of the shift on their feet
- Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment medical including a drug and alcohol screen
- Must be able to successfully complete reference checks
- Must be available for the online Information Session
- Must be available for the Assessment Centre
- Must be able to attend the site tour
