Job Summary
Provide American Sign Language interpreting on the VRS platform while managing interpreting operations for a team of approximately 35 staff. Plan strategic growth for business lines including VRS, Community, and VRI, and oversee daily operations across call centers, at-home interpreting, and community relations. Supervise interpreters through performance reviews, schedule approvals, and hiring coordination with HR. Maintain relations with local community leaders and ensure the team mission of delighting customers is realized through an open, welcoming culture. Deliver accurate reports on team performance, efficiencies, and quality while partnering with support management to execute department-wide initiatives. Work 20 hours weekly between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- fluent American Sign Language
- spoken English language skills
- accurate interpreting skills
- thorough knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
- pass internal interpreting assessment
- 20 hours per week scheduled on the VRS platform between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m, local time, Monday through Friday
- Associates degree in Business Management
- comparable related experience to Associates degree in Business Management
- Bachelor's Degree
- three years of supervisory experience
- coaching and mentoring others
- Extensive knowledge of the deaf culture
- knowledge of the interpreting professions
- Familiarity with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Regulations
- Familiarity with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) standards
- Knowledge of specialized software related to departmental operations including, IM Service, database, and Internet
