Team Manager Inpatient

Job Summary
Direct all patient care services for the inpatient team, ensuring integrated components of the interdisciplinary plan of care. Review admissions, assessments, and discharges to verify eligibility, appropriateness, and timely recertification decisions. Monitor staffing, medications, and level of care changes to assure responsiveness to patient needs while managing the 24/7 team schedule. Collaborate with physicians on palliative measures, facilitate team meetings for care plan revisions, and oversee staff supervision, training, and evaluations. Verify admitting diagnoses, approve bills, and control productivity costs within budget. Monitor clinical records for regulatory compliance, perform chart reviews, and address patient grievances or service failures promptly. Participate in on-call rotation, quality improvement activities, and professional development seminars.
Required Qualifications
- Reliable transportation with appropriate license and insurance coverage for driver and passengers
- Private telephone in home
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of primary medical and nursing care
- At least a working knowledge of oncologic nursing and palliative care
- Basic understanding of the interpersonal dynamics operative within the working relationships of an interdisciplinary health care team
- Knowledge of the process of dying and bereavement
- Working knowledge of VITAS information system (Vx) and the ability to utilize management reports
- Two years successful supervisory experience or equivalent in a health care organization
- Current and valid R.N. License to practice in the state where the VITAS program is located
