Job Summary
Supervise and participate in landscaping and horticultural crews, managing daily schedules with the TPM Coordinator and preparing equipment for varied shifts including Saturdays. Perform landscape installation and maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, mulching, leaf removal, and pruning while overseeing crew training and safety protocols. Handle equipment logistics by loading gas cans, checking fluids and tires, and reporting mechanical issues immediately. Clean sites of debris and maintain vehicles through daily servicing, ensuring all operations meet contract specifications. Available for weekend and holiday snow removal as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Six (6) months of prior related experience
- Experience with towing a trailer
- Experience with driving a small dump truck
- Experience with landscaping maintenance
- Experience with some light construction
- Basic understanding of mechanical and equipment maintenance
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language at a level that permits them to interact and communicate safely with porters, porters assistants, and other staff members, as well as keep open lines of communication with supervisors and customers
- Must possess and maintain a qualified New York State driver's license, with a good record, throughout employment
- Ability to lift fifty (50) lbs. plus
- Ability to carry twenty (20) lbs. back pack blower
- Stoop, stand, and bend for eight (8) hours or more a day
- Walk approximately two (2) – six (6) miles a day
- Ability to lift branches and limbs
Desired Qualifications
- Must be available to work on weekends and holidays, as needed, for snow removal
- Certified as an apprentice (for hand pulling weeds or applying pesticides)
