Team Leader- Syncrude Aurora

Job Summary
Team Leader overseeing 25+ mining operators at the Syncrude Aurora site (Fort McKay area) with a strong safety focus. Responsible for achieving daily production targets, coordinating with the Shift Supervisor to ensure staff are competent and fit for duty, ensuring equipment is operated per design specifications, leading incident investigations and root-cause analyses, mentoring staff, and contributing to HSE culture. Requires conducting regular field inspections, toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, and maintaining accurate records and reports. The role involves collaboration with HSE, Operations, and HR, adherence to OH&S legislation, and usage of INX software for information management. Safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment testing and ongoing safety compliance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 3 years of verifiable supervisory experience in an Industrial environment (Oil Sands/Mining)
- Valid AMSA supervisor certificate
- CSO, BSO certification or CSTS/OSSA combination
- NCSO is an asset
- Heavy equipment experience (Heavy Hauler, Excavator, Dozer, Loader, Grader)
- Ability to follow construction designs
- Class 5 driver’s license with good driving record
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
- Strong leadership, mentoring, analytical and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage safety, quality, and production targets
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Dayforce or SAP
