Job Summary
Oversee daily operations of the Ferrous Yard, assisting the Operations Manager with material out-turns, stock level management, and monthly stocktakes. Ensure health, safety, and environmental welfare for staff and customers while coordinating container bookings and reporting on depot inefficiencies. Operate mobile plant such as counterbalance forklifts and cranes for loading and sorting duties. Monitor quality control of incoming loads from inter-depot and customer sources, and manage material grading and storage according to UK specifications. This role supports continuous improvement to optimize efficiency and performance within the recycling operations.
Required Qualifications
- Develop a detailed understanding of all metal grades to UK specification
- Understand the nuances of all matters of upgrading
- Ensure material is graded and stored appropriately
- Understand stocks and costs of stock control
- Undertake a continuous improvement approach to ensure optimum efficiency and performance
- Operating Mobile Plant such as counterbalance forklift / crane to carry out loading / sorting duties within yard
- Self-develop through training and plant qualifications
