Team Lead User Documentation & IFU – Medical Devices

Job Summary
Lead and coordinate a small team of technical writers while writing, editing, and maintaining user manuals, Instructions for Use, and quick-reference guides for medical devices. Translate complex hardware, software, clinical workflows, and engineering specifications into clear, user-friendly instructions structured around real user tasks and safety-critical information. Review documentation for clarity, consistency, usability, and technical accuracy, ensuring compliance with internal quality standards and applicable medical-device requirements. Manage project timelines, priorities, and deliverables across the product lifecycle, coordinating reviews, approvals, translations, and updates. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, and Product Management teams to ensure accurate content.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience writing user manuals, IFUs, or comparable end-user documentation for complex products
- Native-level English and the ability to write clear, precise US English
- Previous experience leading a team, coordinating writers, or managing documentation projects
- Experience with XML-based content management systems, ideally ST4
- Knowledge of FrameMaker, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in medical devices, medical technology, healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated industry
- German language skills or a willingness to learn German
- An understanding of illustrations, information design, or visual instructions
