Job Summary
Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, stores, and distributes equipment, supplies, instruments, and endoscopes used in patient care. Assists clinical staff by preparing for surgical cases and provides technical guidance on instrumentation assembly and case cart preparation. Trains the team on various skills, acts as a resource and mentor, and supports the Manager with scheduling, training, and inventory duties. Requires one national certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CST) plus a second related certification, 24 annual CE credits, and current Certified Surgical Technologist certification for hybrid OR/SPD roles. Must maintain Basic Life Support certification and possess 3–5 years of relevant experience. Advanced preceptor skills, medical terminology knowledge, and Endo instrumentation expertise are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One national certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER or CST)
- A second national certification related to central service or sterile processing (Examples: CIS; CSIP; CFER; CST; CHMM; CHL)
- 24 CE credits annually that focus on information and advancement related to the CS field and be of a technical nature
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA if in a hybrid OR/SPD role
- Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstration of expert knowledge and skills identified as necessary to function as a Tech III
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Advanced preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching
- Basic computer skills
Desired Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Endo instrumentation function and maintenance
