Job Summary
The Team Lead, Machining 2nd Shift is responsible for coordinating the machine shop team, scheduling work assignments, and training CNC programmers and operators. Key responsibilities include overseeing CNC program creation, troubleshooting complex machining processes, ensuring the use of CAD and CAM software, analyzing job orders and specifications, and writing/modifying CNC programs for efficiency. The position requires significant experience in operating CNC equipment, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to mentor others. Successful candidates will have advanced knowledge of machining principles, effective communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety and efficiency on the production floor.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 15+ years of experience operating and programming CNC equipment
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word)
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Capability to mentor and train others and to share knowledge
- Blueprint reading, basic math, and understanding of measuring devices
- Good computer skills and advanced proficiency in querying, monitoring, and inputting NC machine and system data
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, with the ability to apply mathematical functions
- Advanced knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses
- Able to keep team members well informed and to draw on other's expertise when required
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation and write appropriate machine-level instructions, including revisions to existing programs
- Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet strict time deadlines and production volumes
- Judgment to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, methods, and practices
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Willingness to learn and to train others
