Job Summary
Direct daily firearm department leadership by providing direction to associates on merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, stocking, and customer service. Execute merchandising directives, maintain planograms, and prepare task lists while ensuring compliance with ATF, state, and local laws. Coach and motivate staff, coordinate training, prepare weekly schedules, and assist in performance appraisals and staffing recommendations. Resolve customer and associate issues, conduct product demos, and promote programs like CLUB Membership and In-Store Pick-up. Maintain high customer service standards through product expertise and active participation in special events and pricing integrity.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 to 4 Years in Retail Sales
- Supervisor experience
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages
- Ability to read and analyze certain reports
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the general public
- Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers and with the Corporate Staff
- Must be able to lift 100 pounds or more
- Must be able to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment
- Must be able to work in tight and confined spaces
- Must be able to work in noisy environments
- Must be able to occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Must be able to occasionally operate machinery and/or power tools
- Must be able to constantly stand and/or walk during shift
- Must be able to constantly communicate with others to exchange information
- Must be able to occasionally repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects up to 100 pounds or more

- Must be able to support GSM / DM in leadership of firearm sales and compliance with ATF, state, local laws, company policies and procedures, including 4473, 3310, state and internally required firearm forms
- Must be able to provide direction and guidance to Sales Outfitters in firearm safe handling, safety, operations, and customer experience standards within the firearms department
- Must be able to support the GSM / DM in achievement of Departmental Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory Shrinkage and Payroll Goals
- Must be able to provide daily direction to the associates within the department
- Must be able to assist the GSM / DM and Human Resources Manager to staff the department with service oriented associates
- Must be able to participate in interviewing
- Must be able to make recommendations for selection
- Must be able to coordinate training
- Must be able to consult with GSM and give input on preparation of performance appraisals
- Must be able to resolve problems
- Must be able to maintain a positive, harassment free working environment for all associates
