Job Summary
Lead a team of 10-12 backend engineers while remaining actively involved in software delivery and technical decision-making. Balance people leadership with hands-on engineering to help your team deliver high-quality solutions across customer-facing applications, core banking platforms, and digital channels. Guide delivery priorities, support architectural decisions, and drive the adoption of modern engineering practices by working closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering Leaders. Mentor engineers, manage team performance, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning within an Agile delivery model.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience within software engineering teams
- Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing engineers
- Experience managing team performance, career development, and recruitment activities
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions
- Ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions in fast-paced environments
- Experience working within Agile delivery models
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong backend engineering experience using Java
- Experience developing applications using Kotlin
- Deep expertise with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture
- Experience with Azure and cloud-based development environments
- Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and software delivery automation
- Experience with Git and modern source control practices
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
- Strong understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and secure software development practices
Desired Qualifications
- Java 11+ preferred
- Financial services or banking industry experience
- Experience with SQL databases, JPA, and Hibernate
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Maven, and related engineering toolchains
- Knowledge of reliability engineering and operational excellence practices
