Team Captain Sport & Outdoor

Lead Sport & Outdoor department operations by coaching teammates, driving sales performance, and ensuring athletes find the right gear through expert product knowledge. Anticipate athlete needs, deliver clear information on products and assortment, and uphold merchandising standards including floor sets, signage, and inventory replenishment. Promote company programs like loyalty initiatives and warranty sales while contributing to 30-60-90 day plans with store management to support business priorities. Execute operational initiatives, manage staffing and hiring needs within budget, and act as Head Coach during sole leadership for opening, closing, and front-end functions. Develop effective schedules, monitor progress against goals, and pivot strategies to meet traffic demands and financial targets. Build a strong team by sourcing, interviewing, and retaining direct reports; provide coaching, feedback, and performance management including annual reviews and termination recommendations. Enforce safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures while fostering an inclusive environment where all teammates and athletes are treated with respect.
