Job Summary
Preach, teach, and provide visionary leadership in worship, soul care, outreach, and administration for the Shoestring Valley Community Church membership. Plan and lead the Sunday worship service, officiate at special services such as weddings and funerals, and select worship music with music team leaders. Lead counseling ministry, oversee visitation of the sick, and respond to crisis situations while equipping husbands and fathers to disciple their households. Build teamwork among staff and lay leaders, chair Elder Board meetings, and participate in hiring and supervision of other staff. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to ensure accessibility to the congregation.
Required Qualifications
- Supervision and mutual submission under the Elder Board
- Equal influence as a member of the Elder Board
- Consensus-based decision making
- Study of the Word of God
- Preaching and teaching within the congregation
- Individual spiritual growth
- Devotion to prayer
- Planning and leading the Sunday worship service
- Administration of communion and baptismal services
- Officiating at special services such as weddings, funerals, and nursing home services
- Work with music team leadership to select and maintain worship music
- Ministry of counseling for members and friends
- Equipping and encouraging other Elders and leaders
- Visitation of the sick, infirm, and others in need
- Making appropriate referrals
- Quick response to crisis situations
- Discipling husbands, fathers, or heads of households
- Support and encouragement of small group development
- Personal spiritual growth through rest and refreshment
- Attending at least one seminar, retreat, or conference annually
- Encouraging and equipping the saints to live and speak the truth of the gospel
- Fulfilling individual role in the Great Commission
- Representing the church to other churches and the community
- Facilitating assimilation of new members
- Building teamwork among church staff and lay leaders
- Holding regular meetings to coordinate ministries
- Facilitating communication
- Supporting and assisting leaders with primary responsibility in other ministry areas
- Participating in the hiring and supervision of other staff
- Chairing Elder Board meetings
- Serving as ex-officio member of all other SVCC teams
- Great flexibility in hours available for work
- Availability for evenings and weekends
- Sufficient office time for accessibility to members
- Regular communication with church staff
