Job Summary

Teaching Assistant for TOUR 1P91 (Introduction to Tourism) at Brock University. Duties include preparing for and leading tutorials, facilitating discussion, marking and grading coursework (essays, presentations, participation, chapter summaries), entering grades into Sakai Gradebook, proctoring mid-term and final exams, attending lectures, assisting with class organization, and coordinating with course instructor. Qualifications require enrollment in or possession of a Master’s degree or higher in Tourism Management, strong knowledge in the field, and experience with Excel and Sakai LMS; teaching and marking experience at the first-year level is an asset. Compensation varies by degree status: undergraduate rate ($23.30/hour) or graduate rate ($36.67/hour) with rates effective Sept 1, 2026. Positions may align with Fall-Winter-Spring-Summer academic terms and are contingent on course enrollments and budget approvals. Required Qualifications

  • Applicant must have or be enrolled in a Masters or higher degree in Tourism Management
  • Strong knowledge in Tourism Management
  • Previous teaching and marking experience especially at first year level is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge in EXCEL and Brock University's Sakai-Based LMS or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to mark online essays in PDF and related file types
  • Work experience in Tourism industry is an asset
  • Ability to perform duties of TA and coordinate tasks
  • Available during normal office hours for group meetings
  • Strong time management and reliability
  • Experience coordinating and managing people is an asset
  • Academic integrity and professionalism
  • Excellent communication skills
