Job Summary
Conduct individual and group activities according to the established curriculum while assisting the classroom teacher in implementing IEP goals. Escort students to and from school buses, model communication and social skills, and actively participate in staff meetings and job skills training. Adhere to agency policies regarding crisis intervention and facility evacuation, ensuring student safety and completing all required data documentation. Organize the classroom to create a comfortable, sensory-friendly learning atmosphere that supports academic and personal development for autistic and neurodivergent children.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year's experience working with the developmentally disabled population
- New York State Certified Teaching Assistant designation
- Maintenance of qualifications in the crisis intervention procedure of the agency
- Capability to initiate or assist in all components of the crisis intervention of the agency
- Capability to assist occupants in the orderly evacuation of the facility, by both primary and secondary paths in the event of fire or other emergency
- Completion of agency orientation and training
- Fulfillment of all mandated reporting requirements
- Ensuring compliance with agency policies

Desired Qualifications
