Job Summary
Teaching Assistant & Lab Technician at Gloucester Biotechnology Academy (Gloucester, MA) supporting lab instruction, curriculum development, and daily lab operations. Responsibilities include assisting with laboratory technique and instrumentation, leading classroom instruction as comfortable, providing student assessments and feedback, improving curricula, preparing materials and setting up labs, maintaining inventory and waste streams (including biohazardous materials disposal), routine maintenance of instruments and safety equipment, and engaging in community outreach, recruitment, internships and alumni support. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in biology/chemistry/molecular biology/biotechnology or equivalent lab experience, experience with biotechnology instrumentation, strong communication skills, high energy, adaptability, teamwork, and alignment with GMGI’s mission and DEI values. Work is in-person in Gloucester, MA with potential expansion to roles in Boston; salary commensurate with experience; generous benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or biotechnology or equivalent laboratory experience/training
- Experience with modern biotechnology instrumentation and methods
- Sound understanding of accepted laboratory techniques and practices
- Ability to explain scientific concepts to non-scientists
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High energy, can-do attitude, capable of working in a dynamic environment
- Proactive, adaptable, and team oriented
