Job Summary
Teaching Assistant (ISS) assists classroom teachers by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve skill objectives. Responsibilities include administering, scoring and recording diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher; reinforcing material through guided activities; operating classroom equipment; supervising tests and makeup work; reading aloud and assisting with group activities; communicating student progress to the teacher; and serving as a primary resource for substitutes. Requires strong teamwork, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, with English language and reading/comprehension, critical thinking, time management, and basic desktop computer skills emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Para Pro exam with passing grade OR two year degree OR 60 hours of college credit from an accredited college or university
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Prior work with children
- Knowledge of computers
- Preferably Bi-lingual communication skills
