Job Summary
The Teaching Assistant I supports the Teacher in maintaining a positive classroom environment, assisting in the academic, emotional, and social growth of students. Responsibilities include providing hands-on support to students with special education needs, monitoring student behavior, and preparing instructional resources. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, and are required to obtain specific New York State Certifications. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid New York State Certification as a Teaching Assistant Level I within 6 months of hire
- Obtainment of a NYS Certification as a Teaching Assistant Level III within 5 years of Level I certification
- Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work a 12 month schedule
- May be required to physically restrain clients weighing between 50 lbs. and 200 lbs.
