Job Summary
Teaching Assistant for GEOG 3P66 at Brock University, performing duties such as seminar material preparation, student consultation, marking and grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration in accordance with the CUPE Local 4207 agreement. Compensation varies by qualification: $23.30/hour for non-honours/3-year degrees and $36.67/hour for honours/3-year degrees, with additional duties paid at TA rate. Position may involve on-campus work with flexible arrangements as outlined by university policies. Emphasis on strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize deadlines; candidates should have completed or be pursuing higher education in Human Geography and meet course-specific requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree In Human Geography or equivalent*
- Completion of 4 full credits in Human Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Human Geography courses completed is required (or equivalent*)
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent*)
- Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines
- Equivalency will be determined by the course instructor
