Job Summary

Teaching Assistant GEOG 3P57 Fall D2 at Brock University. Duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom activities such as preparing seminar materials, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required. Qualifications include postgraduate or honours degree in Human Geography or equivalent, completion of GEOG 3P57 with 75% or higher, 4 full credits in Human Geography with 75% average, demonstrated qualitative and quantitative methods experience, field experience, ability to develop research questions, literature review, and present a research paper, plus undergraduate teaching or small group leadership experience, strong communication, prioritization skills, and experience in qualitative research. Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed an Honours Degree in Human Geography or equivalent
  • Completion of 4 full credits in Human Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Human Geography courses completed (or equivalent)
  • Completion of GEOG 3P57 (or equivalent) with a final grade of 75% or higher
  • Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Demonstrated field experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing research questions, writing a literature review, developing an appropriate suite of methods, as well as writing and presenting a research paper
  • Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines
  • Experience conducting qualitative research
