Job Summary
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator for GEOG 3P14 – Introduction to Soil Science at Brock University. Duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required). Qualifications include enrollment in or completion of a postgraduate degree or honours degree in Geography or equivalent; 4 full credits in Geography with 75%+ average; a final grade of 75%+ in the course being TA for; demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Compensation rates are $23.30/hour for undergraduate degree holders and $36.67/hour for graduate degree holders (rates effective Sept 1, 2026). Positions are on-campus and subject to course enrolments and budgetary approval; flexible work arrangements may apply. Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Geography or equivalent
- Completion of 4 full credits in Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Geography courses completed
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course
- Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines
