Job Summary
Teaching Assistant for GEOG 3P07 focusing on remote sensing; duties include scheduled contact time with students, preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required. The role requires knowledge of geomatics and geomatics software such as Google Earth Engine, QGIS, or ENVI. Qualifications include a postgraduate degree or honours degree in Geography or equivalent, completion of 4 full geography credits with at least 75% average, and a course-specific grade of 75% or higher; demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience in remote sensing or related small-group leadership; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. The position is associated with Brock University in Ontario, with on-campus requirements and flexible work arrangements where possible.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Geography or equivalent*
- Completion of 4 full credits in Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Geography courses completed is required (or equivalent*)
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent*)
- Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience in remote sensing or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines
- Knowledge of geomatics, experience with geomatics software (e.g., Google Earth Engine, QGIS, or ENVI)
- Equivalency determined by the course instructor
