Job Summary
Duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required). Qualifications include a Geography honours degree or equivalent, 4 geography credits with 75% average, course-grade of 75% or higher in the relevant course or geomatics teaching experience, knowledge of geomatics software (ENVI 5.0, ArcGIS 10.1, and/or QGIS), and strong communication/interpersonal skills. Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Geography or equivalent
- Completion of 4 full credits in Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Geography courses completed (or equivalent)
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent) or previous experience teaching geomatics
- Knowledge of geomatics, experience with geomatics software (including ENVI version 5.0 and ArcGIS version 10.1, and/or QGIS)
- Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience in geomatics or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Equivalency will be determined by the course instructor
