Job Summary

Teaching Assistant, GEOG 1P11 – Our Environment: Landscapes, Soils, and Water. Responsibilities include scheduled student contact time, seminar material preparation, student consultation, marking and grading, exam proctoring, attending lectures, and department course administration. Requires postgraduate degree or Honours Degree in Physical Geography (or equivalent) with appropriate course-specific prerequisites and a high average in relevant coursework. Demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience or small group leadership and strong communication skills are essential. Duties are governed by the CUPE Local 4207 collective agreement; on-campus scheduling and workload management apply.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Physical Geography or equivalent*
  • Completion of 4 full credits in Physical Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Physical Geography courses completed (or equivalent*)
  • Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent*)
  • Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines
