Job Summary
Teaching Assistant for GEOG 1P02 (Geographies of Identity and Meaning) at Brock University. Duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom tasks such as seminar material prep, student consultation, grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. Faculty members may require online support if the course is offered online, including online virtual office hours and timely support during the regular business day, evenings, and weekends. Qualifications include familiarity with designing/executing online courses and technical proficiency with Brightspace (LMS). Requires Master’s degree or current MA candidate, or a BA Honours in Human Geography (or equivalent), with substantial course-performance prerequisites (75%+ in relevant coursework). Demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent leadership, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Equivalency will be determined by the instructor. Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree, M.A. candidate or B.A. Honours Degree in Human Geography or equivalent
- Completion of 4 full credits in Human Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Human Geography courses completed (or equivalent)
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Equivalency determined by the course instructor
