Job Summary
Teaching Assistant for GEOG 1P01 (Globalization and World Systems) at Brock University. Responsibilities include scheduled student contact time and non-classroom duties such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking/grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. If the course is online, able to provide online virtual office hours and support the instructor and students during regular business hours, evenings, and weekends. Qualifications require experience with online courses and Brightspace LMS; Master’s degree or BA Honours in Human Geography (or equivalent); completion of required credits with strong averages; and demonstrated undergraduate teaching or leadership abilities. Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Flexible work arrangements may be available; on-campus work required at Brock University. Required Qualifications
- Experience or familiarity with the design and/or execution of online courses
- familiarity with Brightspace/Brock's LMS
- Master’s degree, M.A. candidate or B.A. Honours Degree in Human Geography or equivalent
- Completion of 4 full credits in Human Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be TA with a final grade of 75% or higher
- Undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
