Job Summary
Teaching Assistant duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparing seminar material, providing student consultation, marking and grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required. Qualifications include an undergraduate degree in disability studies, psychology, child and youth studies, or related field with a grade >85% on ADST 5P00 (or similar), experience in the field of disabilities, strong communication and feedback skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, availability to work on campus in St. Catharines or online (weekday/evening/weekend), and experience with Brightspace and video conferencing tools (Lifesize, Microsoft Teams). Preference given to MA students in the LDCC specialization. The position is part-time and aligns with CUPE Local 4207-1 contract terms; on-campus presence is required as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Completed undergraduate degree in disability studies, psychology, child and youth studies, or related field and previous completion of ADST 5P00 (or similar course) with a grade of >85%
- Experience in the field of disabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively and provide constructive feedback
- Ability to prioritize work and meet agreed upon deadlines
- Available to attend in ST.CATHARINES and/or attend online synchronous and asynchronous course support – weekday/evenings/weekend
- Experience using Brightspace or other learning management systems
- Experience using video conferencing platforms (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams)
- Available for online, email and phone office hours during the week
- Preference for MA students in the LDCC specialization
