Job Summary
Lead and cultivate a highly creative and supportive classroom environment; introduce musical concepts to help children understand musical composition; build relationships with school staff and parents; assist students with transcription and ensure ensemble parts are notated correctly; manage and archive assignments; coordinate instrument demonstrations, read-throughs, rehearsals, and culminating performances with the VYC Director; participate in professional development and faculty meetings; part-time hourly Teaching Artist role with base rate of $74/hour; anticipated start July 6, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 3+ years of teaching, arts education, or related experience
- Experience working with youth in classroom or community-based settings
- Solid knowledge of music theory and orchestration; composing and/or performance background preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication, public presentation, and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in computer-based music notation software
- Classroom teaching experience is highly desired; interest in multidisciplinary or multi-genre artistic practice is a plus
