Job Summary

Lead students, parents, and volunteers in delivering a safe, quality musical experience at Kids' Orchestra sites in Baton Rouge. Develop thoughtful weekly lesson plans and implement daily social and emotional learning activities. Prepare students for two concerts per year and assist with snack and homework support. Create an inclusive, enriching environment while attending professional developments and workshops. Report to the Education Director and coordinate arrival and dismissal with site staff. Requires background check, child abuse prevention training, and reliable transportation.

Required Qualifications

  • Exhibit a genuine passion for community engagement, teaching, and young artist development
  • Prior experience working with children in a music environment
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to make accommodations for students of varying abilities, levels, or exceptionalities/special needs
  • Previous experience working with children in a supervisory role
  • Basic computer skills necessary
  • Must have reliable transportation or a way to get around the city
  • Background Check and Child Abuse Prevention Training are required as a condition of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • Classroom experience (preferred) or a willingness to learn
  • Working towards, or completion of, a degree in music or music education (preferred)
