Job Summary
Seeking a Teacher Assistant for the Transitions Program to provide individualized support to students, assist with lesson plans, and help maintain a safe classroom environment. Requires flexibility, compassion, and experience with students in need of mental health support.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students' growth and well-being
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging situations
- Ability to follow directions and implement strategies consistently
Desired Qualifications
- NJ Substitute Teacher certification is recommended
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (training may be provided)
- Experience working with children or adolescents, particularly those with mental health needs is highly desirable
- Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about various mental health diagnoses and related challenges associated with school refusal
