Job Summary
Establishes classroom procedures to maximize student learning and prepares detailed weekly lesson plans aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards. Implements Individualized Education Plans and behavioral interventions while maintaining orderly records and managing routine discipline. Adapts curriculum for individualized and small group instruction, utilizing data to guide teaching and communicate progress to parents. Coordinates teacher assistants, volunteers, and field trips, and collaborates with professionals to improve academic outcomes. Maintains a technology-enriched environment and attends required professional development meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s)
- Ability to administer CPR
- Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
- Adequate hearing and speaking to exchange information
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to walk
- Ability to twist at the neck and trunk
- Ability to bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally
- Ability to use fingers and hands repetitively to grasp and/or operate equipment
- Ability to demonstrate lessons to students
- Ability to lift/move up to 15 pounds
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to maintain a neat and orderly classroom
- Ability to handle routine classroom discipline fairly
- Ability to develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure
- Ability to maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
- Ability to attend and participate in all required meetings and conferences
- Ability to maintain complete and accurate student records
- Ability to provide professional and regular feedback to students and parents
- Ability to communicate regularly with parents
- Ability to utilize formative and summative data to guide instruction
- Ability to plan for student interventions
- Ability to provide individualized and small group instruction
- Ability to adapt the curriculum as needed
- Ability to provide a technology enriched environment to support student learning
- Ability to maintain availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day
