Job Summary
Conduct daily instruction, student assessment, and portfolio development while differentiating lessons to address varied intellectual needs. Schedule home visits, parent meetings, and family engagement sessions to build relationships with students and guardians. Design and implement creative curriculum incorporating technology and stretch assignments aligned with Common Core standards and Annual Yearly Progress. Manage student conduct, maintain attendance, and respond appropriately to community stressors such as poverty or violence. Collaborate with colleagues and educational support specialists to ensure outcomes align with the school's mission. Assist in special events, seasonal programs, and duties outside normal classroom responsibilities as needed. Maintain composure and professional demeanor while modeling virtues to students, parents, and community contacts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and equivalent knowledge in teaching
- Minimum of a Provisional Ohio Teaching License required
- Must be able to demonstrate a proven record of success in the classroom
- Ohio and FBI criminal background check required and must pass the minimum requirements per the State Department of Education
- Public speaking experience with children and/or adults required
- English writing, reading, and speaking skills required
- Specialized knowledge of the lives and learning styles of the urban child
- first hand experiences in urban schools
- an understanding of the community from which the child comes
- Confident in teaching, communication and presentation abilities
- Energetic and enthusiastic about teaching and the prospect of helping students reach their fullest potential
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching experience in an urban public or charter school setting is highly preferred
