Job Summary
Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) to provide instructional activities and experiences designed to support growth across intellectual, emotional, physical, and social domains. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons aligned to student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned. Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through the ARD process; implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs; assess student learning styles; employ varied instructional techniques and technology; modify regular curricula as needed; participate in ARD meetings; supervise instructional aides and volunteers; maintain open communication and comply with applicable regulations and policies for special education teachers. Follow district safety protocols and perform duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignment
- Ability to develop IEPs and ARD process knowledge
