Job Summary
Implement evidence-based practices to maximize learning outcomes for students with exceptional needs, including emotional and behavioral challenges. Systematically alter instructional variables based on periodic assessments and create safe, culturally sensitive learning environments. Manage case responsibilities for new referrals, evaluations, IEPs, and behavior plans while maintaining accurate student records and confidentiality. Collaborate with parents, support staff, and colleagues to develop intervention plans and supervise educational assistants or volunteers. Provide formative and summative supervisory information to parent educators and mentor other special educators.
Required Qualifications
- Strong background and experience supporting students with emotional disabilities or behavioral challenges
- Experience in implementing evidence-based strategies to address and manage emotional and behavioral concerns in the classroom
- Experience in collaborating with parents, support staff, and other educational professionals to develop and implement effective behavioral intervention plans
- Familiarity with utilizing therapeutic approaches, behavior management techniques, and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with emotional disabilities
- Strong communication skills
- A compassionate approach to working with students
- A commitment to fostering social-emotional development
- Must meet the qualifications required for the Arizona Department of Education Special Education Teacher certificate
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in collaborating with parents, support staff, and other educational professionals to develop and implement effective behavioral intervention plans is highly recommended
