Job Summary

Lead students toward fulfilling their potential by translating district curriculum standards into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and special area assignments. Maintain a positive educational environment that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students while establishing and supporting positive classroom and campus management. Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student, creating lesson plans and assessment documents aligned with IEP goals and utilizing higher-level thinking strategies and real-life applications. Continuously collect student achievement data to inform instructional decisions and maintain open communication with parents, school personnel, and related service providers. Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and school goal-setting activities while managing challenging behaviors and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, appropriate for subject area
  • Course work should include Foundations of special education
  • Course work should include behavior management techniques
  • Course work should include assessment and evaluation methods
  • Course work should include instructional strategies for students with disabilities
  • Course work should include inclusive teaching practices
  • Appropriate Arizona certification
  • Valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Evidence of highly qualified status
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Transcript of credits
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents and school personnel at all levels
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with teachers, administrators, parents, students
  • Skills in managing classroom behavior and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment
  • Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and how to implement them effectively
  • Expertise in de-escalation techniques and handling challenging behaviors
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
